Husky & Little Boys Empty
PostSubject: Husky & Little Boys   Husky & Little Boys EmptySun Aug 05, 2012 9:19 pm

Not exactly sure where this belongs. But I babysat for a couple hours today today- the boys are 6 and 3. My husky tried to attack them at every chance he got!!! It wasn't the playful nipping either- he was full on trying to bite them! I don't understand. Does my puppy not like kids?? I got in between him and one of them just in time for him to bite my arm and not harm any of them. This is the first time i've seen this happen. My friend brought her daughter over before and he was totally fine and playful wiith them. Does my puppy just not like little boys? PLEASE HELP

How old is this puppy? Are you sure he wasn't just playing rough? This doesn't mean that it is acceptable. The reason I ask is because when my lab was little about 3-5 months she thought it great fun to dive bomb bite anything and anybody in her path. She was just playing, though it was something I had to break her off.

If you are sure it was an aggressive attack (which would be very rare for a puppy) than that is a real problem. What was going on, where the boys running around and acting crazy like little boys do? (I know I have 3 lol). Your puppy may be afraid of kids, their fast movements, or even jealous.

I would say more socialization around kids is necessary, but careful socialization. Take your puppy more places, especially where he can see and safely (leashed) interact with kids of all ages. Like a playground where you can sit away from the kids and let him watch.

Honestly though It sounds like the puppy wanted to play, just that his play was too rough for the kids. But you need to be really careful for sure.

thanks! I'm not even sure if it was an aggressive attack, i do know that when he play bites he doesn't actually bite. it's like when he went to bite he was mad or something.- when i pet him to get him to stop - hed just growl at them. yes, they were being rambunctious as little boys are. And he is 8 weeks and 1 day old. Dogs get jealous?

Oh yes dogs can get jealous. I would try to socialize him more around little kids. In he meantime if the kids come over put him in his crate so nothing can happen.

I really have never seen a puppy actually bite and mean it, but I am sure others have. I'm sure today you will get more help with this hopefully someone has experience with it.

I would be really careful though around kids, if he really is aggressively biting, that can be real trouble.

It would definitely help everyone if you could maybe get a video the next time it happens, I know as for my dogs, they play rougher with the boys, because they are boys. But if your pup is your first husky you MAY just be confusing normal husky play, which can look violent even when its not.
