Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

So on our walks, Bode is pretty good about leaving things alone that I call him off. I can get him away from squirrels, rabbits, etc...and there are a TON of those in our neighborhood. The one thing he will NOT leave alone is leaves! If he sees one falling from a tree he will try to jump and catch it. If the wind starts blowing them around on the street, he goes bonkers trying to chase them. Anyone else have something funny like this?

Catp is an idiot too.

Normally, he is pretty good about leaving it for toys and dogs, etc. However, we have a lion toy that he is a butt head about. I call it the crack lion, because Cato won't give it up. lol

Kale did this when he was really little, or if I accidentally kicked a rock, he'd go chase it lol He kinda grew out of it though, BUT in the fall when there are piles of leaves in front of everyone houses, Kale and I run through them. It's so much fun! It gets to the point where he'll see a pile and get all excited and start the deer prancing to get to it faster Laughing

Yes, LEAVES! He's generally okay with other animals now (he used to try to chase birds, too), but there's something about leaves that makes him unable to control himself. Razz

Sometimes Saber will see a plastic bag blowing in the street and want to attack it! He also tried to attack a tree stump not too long ago.

Bodhi chases squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits, cats and leaves.
I think huskies eyes function differently than ours.
What they "see" in many cases is triggered by motion.

Lol, my husky does the same thing! He'll listen when I call him from chasing birds or ducks but when it comes to leaves rolling around he chases them and picks them up!

Jeter's does the same thing.

He also HATES cats. Yesterday his fur was straight up when he saw a cat on one of our walks. It was the first time I saw him have raised fur.
