Lexy barking at me?? Empty
PostSubject: Lexy barking at me??   Lexy barking at me?? EmptyMon Sep 17, 2012 10:32 am

So Lexy is starting to bark at me now? This is the first time I ever heard her back also. We woke up at our regular rotuine. 6:30 am breakfeast bathroom and breakfeast for Kat(fiance) and I. I dont know why she is barking at me? I know she does not bark at Kat. Maybe she wants to play or she thinks she's dominate over me. Like I stated this is the first time I ever heard her back but she did it to me all morning going up untill she was going to daycare. Just random barking at me.

I play with her all the time. I try to wear her out , I can only do but so much because she is only 9 weeks and we are not allowed to go on walks. Some times she gets so tired that she ends up sleeping for a couple of hours and when she wakes up again she has energy but then its time for me to sleep. Just anything would help. To make her not think she is dominate over me and maybe how to deal with all of that energy after her naps. Playing in the back yard to get her tired again at 10:30pm or 11 is very difficult when we are int he back yard and all she wants to do is eat bugs.

Another thing is she seems happier going to daycare then being with us?

I think she just wants to play! Callie only ever barks when she's playing. Puppies are like energizer bunnies. Five minute recharge nap and they're back up full strength! I don't think barking alone would be her trying to express dominance. It could be, but I would think she'd also be displaying other behaviors. For the post nap energy, tennis balls always seem to do the trick. Or a treat filled kong. Something to keep her occupied. They don't necessarily need to play to use up energy, they just need mental stimulation. This could mean taking a walk or going for a ride in the car or even just a short training session. Right before bed, I've made a habit of taking Callie on a walk around the block and that tires her out a bit.

Daycare is another stimulation thing most likely. Even though she's not playing with the other dogs yet, she knows they're there and that's exciting to her! I'm sure she loves you guys very much and has fun with you, but going to daycare excites her because of the new, strange things she's not familiar with yet. In her mind, daycare means a full day of playing and attention. What could be better than that? Especially if there's days where she doesn't go to daycare, like the weekends. If there are, once she has her shots, you should try taking her to the dog park on those days, just so she still gets that stimulation she'd be getting at daycare.

Yeah at time, I wished she would grow up so she can do more things. Then I think about it and I want her to stay a puppy forever. Thanks I was just overthinking this I think.
