| Well let me start by saying im new at being a husky owner. Today while walking my 5 month old puppy Jade, i got bit and she showed a bit of aggression. We were walking and she bit the leash so i said No! very firm and she started to like jump and go all crazy on the leash. So i was told to slam her down behind her neck where she doesn't feel anything like her mother would, and said no! again firm and let her back up. She started to jump at my back trying to bite so i repeated the same thing. We continued walking and she bit the leash again. So i tried a different approach and got on one knee, which i think was the wrong thing to do and said lay down! She then lunged at my face and nipped my lip. What should i do??? Please Help! Don't want her to become aggressive.
She's a very Smart dog! |

| WHAT???? Do not do that. She was terrified and rightfully so. Fear is very different than aggression.
You need to realize that she is a puppy and that will stop. She has to learn to walk on a leash. Instead of punishing her, keep treats and when you want her attention say "watch" and when she stops chewing the leash and looks at you treat her.

| She won't hate you! Just love on her a little extra Search forums here for leash training. Alpha mentality doesn't work with huskies so don't even bother. Treats and pets are great. google Nothing In Life Is Free training - use that method |

| Yeah that is not showing her you're alpha, there's a quite a difference between slamming a small puppy into the ground vs. gently grabbing the scruff. I would never do either personally.
She's a puppy, and she will act like a puppy unless you use positive reinforcement to teach her otherwise. I'd suggest a puppy class.
If she's biting the leash and acting silly while being walked, offer her a distraction. Get a treat and hold it at your waist, it'll help training her to heel, that's what worked with all of mine. I guarantee she'd rather give her attention to a treat then to the leash. |

| My puppy does the exact same thing to me. And he has been trained with positive reinforcement techniques since he was 10 weeks old (he's currently 10 months old). In fact he did it to me this morning. He is a great puppy with great manners other than this one thing. This usually happens when he can't do/have something he wants. For instance, this morning, we were on our morning walk which was going great. On our way back, almost home, there was a young girl sitting on the ground waiting for the public bus. Q got so excited and started to pull towards her...he actually started pulling before I even saw her, so I didn't have much time to divert his attention. Obviously, I am not going to let him jump on her, so I pulled him away and kept walking. That's when his internal switch went off and he started the jumping biting bit. At that point, all I could do was make him sit and treat him. I try to divert his attention, but sometimes that's just not enough. It's very frustrating. I'm not afraid of him, but I'm annoyed! I'm really hoping that with continued training and positive reinforcement that he'll grow out of it. I never go on a walk without treats for this reason alone. This started when he was about 5 months old. We started hand feeding him and made some other changes per the advice of people on this forum and our trainer. He didn't show this behavior all summer. This has started up again just within the last month. I too am open for any new suggestions. |

| Stark used to bite on his leash as well, but then we just sprayed it with the Bitter Apple stuff (from Petsmart), and he bit it once more after that and never again. His face was priceless though - and he learned his lesson! |
