| Hey, everyone! I joined the forum and posted a question about a week ago, but hadn't taken the time to introduce myself yet! (Just moved into a new apartment and getting internet has been...a challenge to say the least.) I just adopted my first husky, it'll be three weeks tomorrow, and am loving every minute of it. I'm a junior in college in Atlanta, GA and have wanted my "own" dog forever. I've had dogs in the past, but this is my first husky. I had been doing tons of research and had decided that a husky was the dog for me. I like to run, but didn't want to do that by myself in the city, so I figured a husky would be a pretty good match! (Putting aside the fact that if someone did try to attack me or something I'm pretty sure my dog would just try to lick the person to death...haha) Anyway, I was trying to get in touch with one of the husky rescues in Alabama while I was there visiting family in hopes of getting to meet one of their dogs. They wouldn't let me meet a dog before going through the application and home check first, so I didn't think anything would happen that weekend. But then I got to talking to my aunt about getting a dog and she talked me into going to the Birmingham Humane Society "just to look". We looked online and there were some puppies, but no huskies to my disappointment. BUT when we got there, there was a husky! I fell in love, naturally, and here we are! She's about 7 months and I was told she's a mix, but I'm not sure. She's adorable either way. She was so skinny when I got her, and she's gained a little weight so far. She's a lanky little girl. Sorry that was so long! I'm so happy to have found this forum! You are all so full of insight and I'm sure it won't be long before I need your advice again! Here are some pictures of Pippa: She does this all the time. She'd fit just fine if she would lay the other way! After a fun time at the dog park. She doesn't look so skinny here haha Made the silly mistake of going to the dog park right after it rained. She found the mud. (Sorry again for the length and I hope the pictures aren't too large!) |

| Welcome thanks for adopting.. She really looks happy with all the mud on her.
SHe probably is purebred alot of shelter list them as mix it is easier. My female Kerian came from a shelter and they listed her as an Alasken Husky mix well we are pretty sure she is Siberian husky and more that likely purebred. |

| Gary, I go to school in Atlanta and have an apartment in the North Druid Hills area north of the city. My parents live in Forsyth county and I spend most weekends at home because I love the dog park here and love the people there. We'll definitely have to do a meetup soon!
Thanks, Melissa! I'm pretty thrilled she found me too! I'm in love with your three by the way. They're fantastic! |
