Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Well, after 3 months of searching for a treat for training, Panzer has found something worth being brave for.

Tuna fish Sandwiches.

I made one for myself and before I got 3 bites into it, Panzer had trotted out from wherever she was, and gotten right up next to me. She's never been so bold for any reason. I made her work for it a little and then gave her a piece. I'm going to try salmon (there is plenty of that where I live) and see if we can't start moving into some serious training work now.Smile

I'm so happy. She has been so difficult to work with, and its hard to not be able to really reward your dog for doing things that make you happy.

That's awesome! I haven't found anything Juno will work extremely hard for. I have given her some random things to see how she reacts. A good 18 inch bullystick is gone in 30 minutes, pig ears are even faster, Her Kong.... She plays with occasionally. The only thing she really likes is her rawhide bone (I know the dangers). She typically chews on it for 5 minutes then carries it around the house singing to it.

She's weird about milk bones too! She'll chomp them down but won't eat the crumbs. Only the big pieces.

It's a good feeling to find something your dog values and will work for!

Panzer will eat anything, she just won't work for it usually, and so far I haven't interested her with a toy. I have been meaning to try a kong with peanut butter, but haven't found a good time to work with her without the presence of 5 fearless dogs, since its meant either the pack or Panzer and myself will be stuck in the sudden monsoons that have befallen Seattle for the past 2 months, and I wipe 24 paws 6 or 7 times a day as it is..
