If you choose to spay you could still show in UKC altered (which would be a much more friendly environment for you to show her in). And until you do get her spayed you could show her in UKC. I feel it would just be a much better environment than jumping straight into AKC.

I have started researching on AKC vs UKC, and have printed out the registration form to UKC register her (whenever I get my AKC papers...grrr). I will likely try each. I didn't realize until this year that there were different TYPES of dog shows like that. I thought it was just all AKC.

AKC is just more "well known" and more "well respected" but each has the pros and cons. UKC is more family friendly and a more fun environment and more helpful where AKC is more competitive. I believe UKC doesn't allow professional handlers either where AKC does (and you will most likely end up against in the ring).

Both has politics though. There are many things I dislike about both but many things I like and admire in both.

UKC would just be a much easier venue to start out in.

I was a professional handler... for Irish Water Spaniels.. with my friend Josi.. for the owner of the kennel I trained at, whom also owned a breeding kennel.

Then, one day, we dressed like members of the British Royal Family, and she had a giant sun hat, and I had a waxed handlebar, and NOBODY was amused. In the entire show. It was the worse possible venue for ridiculous humor ever.

I wasn't asked to handle the dogs in shows after that. Just train the new puppies.

I would have LOVED to have seen that! LOL sounds AMAZING!

It annoys me how competitive AKC is. Apparently it's only AKC that is like that - over in England and Europe the venues are much more light hearted and about having fun showing the dogs while still maintaining an air or competitiveness. A friend of mine showed in Crufts and said it's really different over there in terms of actual exhibiting.

Literally NOBODY found it amazing, or loved it. I felt like Lil Wayne at a Willie Nelson concert.

Showing in the AKC, dating a succubus for 3 yrs, and working at a movie theatre were probably the 3 lowest points in my life, in order from worst to most bearable.

Well, you are still alive, so obviously the succubus part wasn't a total failure! Btw, I wouldn't neccesarily use the term succubus as a hardcore bad thing. I mean, unless she consumed your soul or something.

I plan on showing in both (probably more AKC than UKC as UKC in eastern PA is non-existent). But I plan on showing very limited and on a very sparing basis.

I'm more wanting to do therapy work and working dog stuff. Showing is just for trial to see if it's something I want to continue or move on to another venue.

It tried to tell me to pick between being with the woman-form it had duped me into loving or raising Soshanna. You tell me what kind of horrible creature would try that, if not a genuine Succubus... Needless to say, we banished her back to the hell she came from; Renton.

Ohhhh, you didn't say she was from RENTON...

And trust me, there are plenty of sh*tty women out there. (especially from renton. hah!) I told my guy that he HAD to take care of his dog, or he would be out of my house, and the dog staying with me.

For as many shitty women there are half as many shitty men.

I said this to my friend other day in regards to dog shows:

I reached the realization that there is so much drama in dog showing/breed because it's a predominantly woman sport. If there were more men there would be a lot more cheating.

LOL!
I think it would be a much lazier sport. I think the guys would sit in lawn chairs with a beer in their hand and then ask the judge to come to them. :p

As long as we are all agreeing that when you average it out, men are only half as shitty as women, then yes, I agree. Razz

Depends on the level of shitty we're talking about. And what generation. Each era is a little bit different... and men and women are shitty in their own unique ways. I have always attracted the wrong kind of guy and gotten screwed over.

This is why I like dogs!! They make sense.
