| Hey everyone! My name is Liz, and this is my first forum I've joined that had to do with my husky! wow! A lot of people love their pup as much as I do! We're be moving to the Lower 48 soon! Let me start by saying that I have an eight month old siberian husky name D'Artagnan (For those who aren't fond of the Three Muskateers, that is pronounced "Dar-Tan-Yan"). He's a beautiful black and white short haired husky. I was a bit weary getting a husky, because honestly I have never owned a dog in my ENTIRE life. People kept telling to get a Lab Retriever, or a Goldren Retriever, or a more obedient dog, because huskys are very dominant breeds, and aren't for "New" Dog owners. My husband, however, he is in the Military, and he wanted a dog that would be very friendly, and someone who would be as energetic as he is, and is able to stand all types of weather. A woman down the street had a litter of puppies, and my husband went out and chose one on his own. Was I mad!! What was I going to do with a hyper active dog, that runs away? Needless to say, 6 months later, I was wrong. Yes, he is very hyper, but he is the most amazing husky I've ever met. He's a great listener, loved to stay around me and my husband, and learned mayn tricks easily. What a great people pleaser! I was inlove at first paw shake. People who were not fond of husky's before changed their minds about huskys when they met mine! I keep telling myself that I want another husky, but I'm not so sure if I'll be so lucky the second time. haha I'm excited to be on here, and I definitely will be asking many questions about living in the lower 48's! |

| Welcome! Are you guys stationed at Elmendorf or Eielson? I got to spend 3 days at Elmendorf a few years ago, and vowed that I would one day move to Anchorage. Unfortunately being Navy there are no billets for me up there Good luck with the upcoming PCS, and we're here to help with the whole lower 48 thing. Where are you moving to? I just PCS'd from Florida to Maryland, and I hope that's our last move for a while. D'Artagnan is adorable, and I can't wait to see more pictures! _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | Good luck with the move! Make sure you watch the movers like a hawk when they're packing your stuff, and it's not a bad idea to take pictures of your furniture and valuables. I've only had to make claims for 2 out of my 8 moves, but it helps to do that. And feed the movers, they take better care of your stuff. _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword.
