allergic to Peaches. Sad I have been very sick, started 2 days after we got her, and nothing I do or take is helping. Dr is going to order allergy testing to make sure. I'm so upset, my daughter is too. I hate the thought of having to give her up, we love her so much.

Thank you both! I'm hoping and praying it is something else too. I have allergies to other things and the meds I'm taking for that isn't helping. At first we thought it was a sinus infection but the antibiotics are not taking care of it so we are leaning toward an allergy. Sad My daughter is very upset, she understands but it doesn't make it any easier. The good thing is that Kathy said she would take her back and my daughter could visit anytime, not the same as having her in our home but at least we will have peace of mind knowing she is being cared for and we can see her.

It's great you'll be able to see her if you can't keep her. Smile I know it's not the same though.

What symptoms are you having?

Maybe it's something you are giving her? We discovered that the shampoo we washed Nova in gave everyone hives (including the dog).

I hope its not Peaches.

No it's not the same at all but it's something. I'm trying to be brave and not cry in front of my daughter. lol! She will be 9 on the 26th. She understand and knows that Mommy's health comes first but she doesn't want to give up our Peaches. Really praying it's something else so I don't have to take her away from my daughter. That really hurts!

I hope everything is fine! I would hate to see you give her up after the work and dedication you took in getting her to sleep in her crate. Hopefully it's just something else, good luck either way Smile

Yes it really does hurt. We've gone through a lot of losing animals (health or otherwise) and it's horrible. Crying or Very sad I hope you won't have to go through that experience. Be strong and we'll be here for you. Smile

Oh no,I really hope it is something else and you will not have to give her back. I am allergic to dogs and as long as I take Allegra everyday I am ok. Have you tried different kinds of allergy pills? I never knew there was such a big difference in them until I went from always sick while taking Claratin to hardly ever sick with Allegra. Just a thought.

Maybe you can talk to you're doctor about allergy shots.

A former client of mine was allergic to her son's cat and she get's weekly allergy shot's to maintain it.

I have friends that also do this, especially during Spring, when the pollen count is very high.

I thought the same thing when I got my girl - I had cold like symptoms for a month or more, but eventually they went away and I never had a problem again - I think you need to get used to her hair and dander - and once your body has adjusted to it - you may be fine. I NEVER was allergic to anything before - until her. at 45 yrs old too ??? go figure......... but I would have never gotten rid of her - I just took medicine - good luck - I hope you can figure things out!!!!!!!!

What are you taking for those other allergies? I have really bad seasonal allergies, cat allergy and even a mild dog allergy. For most of the year I can get away with taking just Zyrtec, for the really bad times or if I know I'll be around cats, I also use Omnaris.

I hope it's not Peaches that is causing your illness, but if it is, could you possibly switch up your allergy medications to help?

Good luck!

I'm already taking an allergy pill but nasal spray for my other allergies. I added some allegra to see if it would help but so far it hasn't. Sad

Thanks! I all allergies to other things, trees, grass and so on. The allergy meds I'm taking now are not helping, I just seem to be getting worse, not better. Sad Going to talk to her tomorrow and see if there is anything else I can try.

Have you also taken into account that the tree's and flowers are blooming (at least in my area they are) and that could be the problem?

My allergies are out the roof right now, because of the grass, trees, and flowers. My doctor told me the pollen count is extremely high. My normal allergy medicine isn't even working, because it's so bad right now. You're only a few hours from me, so I can't imagine it being very different.

I am the same way - I did an allergy "prick" test a year ago and basically Spring will kill me if I'm out too long. Yes, pollen is very high this year (I live in Northern VA too).

Have you tried the old wife's tale: A Teaspoon of LOCAL honey once a day will help with allergies. You won't see results right away but after a few weeks it starts helping. I've done it for the last 3 years and I can tell you it works. I was miserable as a kid, but now I can go out for 30 minutes without squeezing up a storm. The key thing is you need local honey so you can build up a pollen tolerate to local pollen.

Going to buy some local honey today! lol

I wake up every morning sneezing and have red eyes where I look like a complete stoner. Spring and me just do not get along very well.

I have to carry an EPI Pen on me at all times... It gotten really bad. If I ever really want to end it all - all I would have to do is go hiking in spring with a cat cover in dust. lol.

Spring is usually rough on me but never like this. When I woke up this morning my eyes were hurts, swollen and I'm itching all over. In order to do an allergy test I have to be med free for 7-10 days so it's going to get much worse. Sad

I had a long talk with my daughter, she is very sad at the thought of giving up Peaches but she said she understands and that my health comes first. It also helps that Kathy is only 40-45 minutes away and that she said we could visit as often as we want.

I'm not ready to give up yet, I want to see what the allergy Dr says and then we can decide what would be best for all of us. I do know that if meds do not help there is no way we can keep her, I can't live everyday for 14+ years like this.

I appreciate all of your help, tips and advice. I'll keep you all posted and let you know how things go. No matter how it turns out we will still have Peaches in our lives so that is a huge plus.

I am highly allergic to cats and somewhat allergic to dogs. I currently have 4 dogs. I am also allergic to just about everything that grows outside. I get 4 shots a month plus I take Benadryl. It controls it but has not totally eliminated my allergies. The one pill that worked wonderfully, you cannot buy in the US. It was Drixoral.Good luck and I hope whatever your Dr. gives you works.
