Puppy vomiting Empty
PostSubject: Puppy vomiting   Puppy vomiting EmptyThu Mar 21, 2013 2:10 pm

Ugh changing Selena's food is never going to end, or at least I hope it's related food and not something else! As some of you know BBW caused Selena pudding poops, raunchy gas, and vomiting just like it has for many other dogs! So my first instinct was so take her off it immediately. I put her on Wellness Core puppy which she loves and her stools instantly went back to normal, yay right? Well, now we are having a problem in the middle of the night/early morning when she first wakes up...she is vomiting yellow bite Sad What she is vomiting is the same stuff she was vomiting before while on the BBW which is odd. And it only happens in the middle of the night while we are sleeping or when we first wake up to go potty. I can hear her little tummy making all kinds of funky noises. Other than that she is still acting like a crazy husky pup!

With that being said....I don't think it is the food? I am wondering if maybe she ate something or if she just has an upset tummy and needs to eat a little something before she goes to bed? Orrrr, does she maybe need a food that isn't so rich..I don't know anymore :/

Any thoughts? I am waiting for the vet to call back but it won't be until tomorrow

What time do you feed her dinner? Normally if it is white, frothy or yellow it means the stomach is empty. Feed her later or give her a couple of biscuits before bedtime. That is what worked with mine.

Stark used to do that too - Yellow bile meant that he didn't have anything to eat for too long. So we just fed him a lot closer to bedtime (about 30-45 mins - and got him out to potty just before going to sleep). That solved the problem for us. How many times do you feed her a day? Until Stark was about 6-7 months, he'd get 3 meals a day to avoid the yellow bile throwups...

Well I normally feed her 3 times a day but most days I just leave her food sitting there because she only likes to eat a few nibbles at a time. I do offer her up to 3 cups total in a day but there are days when she will only eat 1 1/2-2 cups total a day. She definitely isn't a big eater. Usually she eats some dinner around 430-530PM after she has her play date with the neighbors dog. Then not again until we wake up around 7 AM so maybe her tummy is empty for too long, that would make sense! I guess I'll have to try to get her to eat later and/or give her some treats Smile . I just wasn't sure if the bile would be related to all the food switches. Thanks!

Yeah - you're on the right track thinking you should feed her later.

Keep us updated on her progress with this! Smile

It is when it is green or brown or some other awful color other then white or yellow is when you should worry. Loki was doing this at 3 in the morning when he was a 5 months started giving him some peanut butter biscuits before bed and no more vomit.

She looks okay to me... She'll be starting the lanky/awkward puppy stage soon so it will be expected for her to look a little skinnier than normal. As long as you can't see her ribcage through her fur (couldn't really tell from the pics), she should be good.

Oh wow Sophie does look like a skinny minnie, I guess Selena isn't considered skinny then! Selena plays with our neighbors lab every day and they are always picking things up off the ground and apparently their lab was vomiting the same type of stuff so we are thinking they both just ate something they shouldn't have! I did hear from her Vet this morning and she said that probably is the case but still to watch out for parasites in puppies so if the vomiting doesn't stop even after trying to feed her later then to bring in another stool sample but I think she is fine now! Very Happy
