TOUGH bed suggestions for puppy Empty
PostSubject: TOUGH bed suggestions for puppy   TOUGH bed suggestions for puppy EmptyWed Mar 27, 2013 9:32 pm

So I have already bought 2 different beds for Selena, one $40 and one $80..figured a more expensive durable one might do the trick, but NOPE she digs holes and eats the stuffing! Twisted Evil She loves to lay in a bed when she is chewing her bully sticks, antlers etc. until she gets side tracked with stuffing Wink. (Plus I have to use one to cover up the massive hole she made in my living room carpet when she was 3 months old haha)

Does anyone have a suggestion for a TOUGH bed I could get her, preferably without stuffing but still comfy?! A puppy-proof one I guess? LOL

I havent even tried getting bella and jasper beds yet especially after they've turn four of my pillows apart and turned the couch cushion upside down and ripped the foam out, shhh ma doesnt know they did it twice. Anyways I took old flat sheets and folded them up to put in their crate so they have a bit of cushion but no foam or stuffing to murder cause thats all that would happen. They actually havent ripped apart my nephews bean bag yet either but they are to big for it, at least Jas is he lays across the whole thing and doesnt look comfortable at all or he ends up flailing bout as he falls off the other side. I'm just sticking with the sheets for now and thinking about possibly getting material making a bed cover and putting old, ripped, and too small clothes in it since they like laying on my clothes also.

I found a bed with no stuffing! Has anyone bought a Kuranda bed? If so, what are your thoughts on it? It says chewproof but I don't know if I trust that Laughing

And if you do have one, what size do you have for your husky? The website recommends Large

My dogs have them at daycare and love them, but they only use them outside for sunbatheing lol! When we move into our place with a fenced yard I'm definitely going to be purchasing some

What about a sheet or cheap blanket? Nova ate 1/4 of his bed so after that he now gets a blanket.

I gave her a blanket after she tore apart her last bed but she doesn't want anything to do with it lol. Stubborn husky! I think I am going to order the Kuranda bed, I heard they are covered under warranty so if she does happen to eat it they will replace it Cool

We got a kong bed for Hermes from petco. Hes had it for like 6 months in his kennel and has yet to chew it up. Other beds would last him a day...

I bought a Kong bed once at Kennedy had it destroyed over night. I don't suggest them for a dog who has a history of destroying beds.

A lot of shelters have the K beds, so I think it is safe to say those are pretty durable!!

I plan on getting a Kuranda bed soon. It was recommended to me by someone here because Evie has luxating patella in both knees and they are supposed to be great for dogs who are arthritic or have joint issues, etc. She has ruined every expensive bed I have bought for her and actually has done best with an old folded quilt on the floor that used to be my sons. With her if the bed is filled with anything, she's bound to get to the middle of it! Let us know what you go with and if Selena likes it.

Puppy proof. HUSKY puppy proof. Bwah ha ha ha ha! *cough* *cough*

Kuranda or similar is probably your best bet. Somewhere online there are instructions how to make a similar dog bed for DIY people. Our older dogs are OK with the normal stuffed beds. When they were young and shredded the beds, we used old folded-up blankets and towels.

Alicia, stuffing a big pillow with old clothes is a great idea. Thank you!

A husky owner here is saving her dogs fur to make a dog bed for him using his own fur hoping he will not destroy it. lol!

My dogs use a Kong beds for night time and stuff beds for daytime.. In the crates we use a fleece blanket inside of a pillow case.

Thanks for all the replies! I was in PetSmart today and actually bought just a plain jane orthopedic foam bed since it was on sale for only $36. I actually looked at the Kong bed, it was on clearance for $63 and I wasn't paying that for soon to be shreds lol. I figured since this bed doesn't have sides to it MAYBE if I'm lucky she won't dig at it/rip it to shreds! lol! Every bed I have bought had sides and that's where she made the holes so we shall see. If this one fails to be puppy proof (which I know it will) then we are definitely ordering a Kuranda.

Oh and Ps..we came from the vet today and Miss Selena is now 27 pounds, wahoo! Cool
