2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Hi! Glad to be here. My wife and I found ourselves as the adoptive parents of a 2 year old Siberian husky. We have a greyhound that we got in 2010 and he is 7. I have a lot to learn about huskies and I figured what better place than here to start. We have had Myla about a week now, and I am seeing an improvement in her behavior. She is not yet fixed...that will be coming very very soon, and we have noticed some aggression towards our greyhound, Matchbox, though it is short lived and then they are fine together again. We are crating her and will probably continue to do so when we are not home. When we are home, she is out of the crate until bedtime. She is very friendly and playful, what a switch from our grey who just wants to be lazy. I am open to suggestions, as I have had had only greyhounds most of my life. We are already loving our little girl though and she has fast made herself a member of our family. I look forward to "meeting" all of you!

Hey Mila and Ben, since I'm new to this forum (but not Husky's) I'm sort of introducing myself with a few comments, so I hope you don't mind.

Something about Husky's - when they play, they play rough! and a lot of what appears to be aggression is simply Husky play.  It may sound like Myla is going to tear him up but as long as there's no blood and your greyhound doesn't try to fight then it's really probably just play.

As far as an introductory period goes, a week is still pretty new to both dogs.  "Who is that and what's she doing here?" and "I need to know how I fit into this household!" is probably what's still going through their minds.  Keep an eye on them and see how they react to each other and things should settle down in a week or five.

Al Jones hit the nail on the head - rough!  Oh my - watching my almost 2 yr old play with my son's 6 mo old husky mix is both a treat and a horror show! They tear into each other, run, leap, roll - and the little guy latches onto my boy's jowls and just hangs there like vice grips while the tear around the yard lickety split!  And the growls, woos and howls are phenomenal!  A regular circus.  That looks like they are killing each other...yet they are happy as clams!
