Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Hi everyone. First, I'd like to say thank you to everyone that is involved with and active on this forum. I started reading this forum back around January when we decided we were going to get a husky puppy. We had a sheltie-spaniel mix (so we were told when we adopted him) for 8.5 years before he lost his fight with kidney disease. We took some time away from having a fur baby to do a lot of the things we could do otherwise, like travel to other countries, etc (we took him everywhere we went. If he couldn't come, we wouldn't go). In April we picked up our little boy, Rory. I've still been reading the forum nearly every day, looking at pictures, browsing the topics and looking at the advice. This forum has been a great help since it's the first husky we're raising ourselves from a pup. He's been so much fun and is the love of our lives.

I'll be sure to post some pictures, and am sure I'll have plenty of questions or my 2 cents to contribute in certain threads. For now, here's a link of some of the pictures we've taken of him over the last 8+ weeks. Everything dated April 6 and older there are pictures of his litter as well as 1 or 2 other litters the breeder had, so they aren't all of him. And trust me when I say this is nowhere close to the pictures we took. We have to empty the pictures off our phones once or twice a week, otherwise we run out of space!

Thanks for letting me be part of your community.

Welcome aboard! Whereabouts in Maryland are you? We're in Pasadena. I organized a meet up group when we moved up here in December, and if you'd like to join up here's the link to our Facebook page:

On the one hand, you become a fierce defender of the ways in which your little one is perfectly ordinary — all the things he or she can do that are just like what everybody else does. And yet, you never lose sight of how absolutely extraordinary that very ordinariness is, how difficult, remarkable and rewarding that fight to be 'just like everybody else' has been."  -Gwen Cooper, "Homer's Odyssey"

We're in Ellicott City. I'll take a look at the FB group when I'm at home (FB is blocked at work). I'm sure he'd love to go to a meetup. He's met 2 adult huskies so far and had a blast with them.
