Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Hello, I decided to finally join the conversations here that were/are so helpful with adopting my own husky. Caper is a 6month old puppy re-home and has been adjusting well to our home during the past 3 weeks. I honestly think that I got lucky in that he's quite the opposite of the out-of-control, destructive, hyperactive pup I was expecting through researching the breed! Might be too soon to say though - honeymoon phase? I'm looking forward to sharing stories and pics here, and learning from others who share their lives with these amazing dogs! Here he is enjoying his belly rub and looking innocent:

Welcome and thanks for adopting! you could have gotten lucky but you will know for sure after about 3 months, thats about how long a rescue takes to really settle in to the new home. Glad you joined and we look forward to pictures and updates!

Welcome I agree with Jennifer it takes 3 months or more for a rescue to really settle in and the real personality to come out.

Welcome! You're right in that it could be the honeymoon phase, but you could have gotten a great husky too! Just be prepared for all outcomes and you'll be fine Smile

Caper is SO HANDSOME! I love him!

Thanks for the welcome Smile

I'm sure as he gets more comfortable the true Caper will come out. As an example, he was a silent doggie for the first 2 weeks and is now starting to use a short but loud "woo" once or twice a day to say "hey that's mine!" to the other dog or "Get up, I need to pee!" So I am definitely still bracing myself for some more husky-ness. Also can't wait to see him at full size - at 6 months he's already 56lbs :O Seems like he will be on the big side!
