Renaissance Festival 2013 is in 5 months and 1 day (in Michigan)!!
I was curious how many are planning to go? Who's planning to bring their Husky or dog?
I took Kumari last year. It was a blast! Here are some pictures from it. Smile

I would love to take Yuki but the one near us apparently isnt dog friendly, as far as I know. I worked there in the fall of 2011 and there was only one dog I saw and he was a service dog.

I've only been once and didn't enjoy it, kind of a money drain. I would never take Bode. I personally am not a fan of people bringing dogs to events like these, art fairs, etc...I think they are too high of stress environments and usually in hot weather.

There is a "Pet Fest" weekend where dogs are free to get in and there is a section set up and dedicated to pets. I didn't take any dog two years ago because it was too hot. Last year it was perfect. Not very hot and a slight breeze. It's the only reason I took Kumari at all. She is also a very calm dog to begin with.
It was a lot of fun taking her. She was pet and loved plus I got to teach a lot of adults and kids about Huskies which I always enjoy doing since so many people misunderstand or judge them.
The money is a problem, I agree. The food is expensive, but the shows are fun and it's fun to just walk around and see everything. Smile

Hmm we'll definitely have to check out this 'pet fest' and maybe drive up to go to it because it sounds like so much fun! Which weekend is the pet fest one? And yeah, last fall wasnt very hot.. I was freezing a couple of weekends in my ren fair clothes! How much are tickets, and do you have to get them very far in advance?

As a frequenter of the Ren Faire in our area, I would LOVE to bring the girls. Unfortunately, they don't allow dogs, plus it gets really hot.

I definitely want to come, but I'll have to work on Yuki for the next couple months. Shes a bit afraid of people at the moment.. dunno why. But I'm hoping its just a stage and that she'll grow out of it just like Cloud did.

Hm. My dogs never had that problem. Quite the opposite actually. Haha. It would be awesome if you came! Chelsea and I are probably going Sunday the 18th since she doesn't want to have to take off work on Saturday. Smile

I don't know, Yuki's been socialized at pet stores and walks since she was little, but lately shes gotten worse. She speeds up when she sees someone to the side of us and tries to get by them as quick as possible and goes to the end of her leash to avoid people getting close to her. Cloud had a stage like this too though around 6 months and now hes a year and is fine with people, he's not cuddly but he doesnt mind people. It's just my luck that I got the two most anti-social dogs in the world Razz

I wish mine were anti social. You know how many people stop you when you walk three huskies? A LOT. I try to walk where a lot of people aren't since my girls leash manners suck, they pull and jump around when they see a cat. Luckily we haven't seen any other dogs on leashes walking to us....yet...

My girls are pretty good. Kumari is friendly, but doesn't like her head pet so once people try to touch her head she ducks and then ignores them. Mady is very sweet and friendly and loves everyone. Phoenix is friendly, but jumps sometimes so I have to keep an eye on her. Haha

Mine are pretty okay when they're alone it's just when they're together they go crazy. I'm hoping with more walks together they'll calm down a bit.

Problem is my Rens Fest is only one dog per person. :/
So if you came you'd have to choose one, or have Abby take the other if she doesn't wanna deal with her crazy dogs. Wink

Oh, and I'm dressing Phoenix. If it's cooler or cold she's going in a red dress that's pirate/rocker looking. If it's warmer or hot-ish she's wearing a green and purple tutu. People love a dog in a tutu. Haha.

I'd probably take Maya so she can meet Phoenix since she probably won't meet her at our meet. That is if Megan wants to take me, if not i'll just walk. Razz

Hubby and I are debating it right now. He doesn't want to. He thinks it would be too much while dealing with our two human kids. I can kind of see his point on that, so I thought we could get a sitter for the humans. That idea isn't going over too well. silent Then the following weekend is kids free AND our oldest daughter's birthday. But then a few weeks after that is pirate weekend. We can't afford to do them all.. oh, decisions, decisions...
