She has actually gotten darker this winter. Last summer and the winter before that she was a tad lighter, much more like Jack. Her coat deepened and some of the color around her eyes darkened over this winter for some reason. I assume it is an age thing.

It was a moment of such deep thought. I have thought about framing it. Need a picture of her for my office. It's always a toss up with the picture of her sitting on the couch after we first got it though.

Some pictures from the arkansas trip. We walked over 20 miles in 3 days, which is a lot for us. We did the Whitaker point trail, Hideout Hollow, and several runs around Petit Jean state park.

If you are ever in the Jasper AR area hit up little Switzerland for a cabin. they allow dogs, the owner is awesome, and much better priced than other places around.

I've never wanted to go to Arkansas before but now I do! Those pictures are amazing. They look so happy too!

Jenn, I love the first pic, Kenzi's mask is quite striking in it. Arkansas pics are so lovely, not too far from me, maybe next year we can journey to that beautiful place. Keno and Kenzi look like they had a great time!

I have a bunch more of the scenery. It is a very pretty place. If you go though, have all your pet friendly places mapped ahead of time as there are very few pet friendly places and the places that do let you have pets might only have a couple rooms or cabins that allow them so you need to get them in advanced.

I now realize I probably should have done a Hiking With Dogs thread...

How was it?! My husband and I are looking to go up to Petit Jean State Park late this year, early next year and finding accommodations has been stupid. Even the normal pet friendly hotels don't allow dogs or have a weight restriction. -_-

It's beautiful though! I am itching to get some real scenic hiking in my life soon.

Petit Jean will allow dogs. They have 2 cabins I think that you can rent. They also have a yurt you can rent. We were going to stay but we didn't get our reservations in in time so give lots of forward notice on the dates. Or take a tent or mobile traveler. We are going to take a tent next time. The park has great accommodations. As far as places near Petit Jean there just isn't much. Russelville is 20ish miles away and had a motel 6 but it was sketchy. If you are looking to go up 65 hwy then Harrison is your only pet friendly lodging options that we found and it's a long ways from petit jean. As far as dealing with weight limits we live by a don't ask, don't tell frame of mind. Most places won't ask the size of dog, so we didn't tell when we were in Harrison for the last night. Quality Inn in Harrison doesn't care and doesn't have a giant pet fee. We actually walked all of Petit Jean in one day because of the lodging issues. It was the hardest day we did.

Wow! That Whitaker point trail looks amazing! I bet that place will be glorious in the fall, too. I've heard that it was crazy difficult to vacation with your dog in Arkansas. I guess it's because of their pet policies. I wonder why they're like that.

But it sounds like it all worked out quite well for you! Wonderful pics!

We got really lucky with the weather while we were there. It was in the high 90s with insane humidity the week before but it was upper 70s to low 80s while we were there and didn't give us trouble at all.

Kenzi is better with open steps than Keno. he would rather forge the creek than cross the bridge. I sometimes have to pick him up and chuck him on the bridge because he just tries to skate around the steps to the bridge.

They had a blast and the dogs were dead to the world for nearly a week after getting home.
