Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Introducing a New Puppy Empty
PostSubject: Introducing a New Puppy   Introducing a New Puppy EmptySat Mar 29, 2014 2:43 pm

Hi Everyone !

I currently have an almost 2 year old Husky (Sasha), and we are getting a second in a few weeks. I have some questions regarding her crate. I still have her crate for her, but she rarely ever uses it. She sleeps with us, and I don't lock her in when we leave the house, I just corral her in the kitchen area where her crate is when we leave.

My question is, do I need a second crate or can I use the one I already have for the new puppy? If I do that, should I put the crate away now so that it is unavailable to her so she gets used to it not even being around?

I know to introduce them in a neutral area and keep their food separate .. does anyone have any other tips to share ?! Thanks !!

If you're able to properly fit the current one to the puppy and you are set on having the adult out of it ongoing it should be fine I would think.

I think the best way to introduce them is outside and then go for a short walk down the block and back, to the yard, wait for the puppy to pee and/or poop, and then go inside.

Good luck.
