Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

You may not have realized it but you just had progress, from ignoring the pup to at least accepting that it is there. You've mentioned that Kody holds his ground well if he is like Biko (male) even though he is only about 16 months he already dominates Adobo (female) who is 4+ yrs.

I think male Huskies are rather chauvinistic Laughing

Yep, he holds his ground for sure, but still respects her. If she really really growls at him he moves away. Let's see how it works out because Mya is very dominant and 2 dominant personalities probably isn't a good thing. Rolling Eyes

Ughhhh!!!

A little while ago Mya attacked Kody pretty bad and we had to get in the way Sad She wouldn't come in the house so i grabbed the treat bag so that she would listen and Kody jumped on me to smell the bag and she DID NOT LIKE THAT! I guess I have to put him in another room before i use a treat to get her to come in the house Crying or Very sad

She didn't get a chance to hurt him, but still!!!

Yup- resources are tough. When you and hubby have some time, try this:

Leash both of them in an open space.
Gather as many treats/resources as you can and put them behind you. Have the dogs facing you.
Have them both lay down and give them each a toy.
Let them play with the toys for a minute and then switch. Always give Mya the better toy.
Repeat this a few times. Again, always give Mya the better toy (for now). Eventually, try giving Kody the better toy once or twice, but wait until Mya is handling it better.

You'll want to start with them separated by a lot and repeat this exercise a few times. Then as Mya reacts less and less, move them closer.

A few times a week doing this should help and I bet you'll see results within a month. Remember... this takes time. I can't stress enough, it took Koda and Hailey SIX months before they were both trustworthy with toys and resources. Even now we need to correct Hailey. She guards and hoards from Koda still (it doesn't cause fights, but we still want to correct the behavior when we see it.)

You'll get there Smile
