Took Loki swimming today for the fourth day in a row. We've already noticed his leg isn't as stiff and he has more energy. We'll see how it goes though. Hopefully we can find a place where I can get in the water with him soon here. Anyway, here's pics:

He paddles out very well for a dog his size. Every once in a while he'll get distracted by a duck or something but I just say "Ball" and he switches right back to the ball quickly. He's a smart little guy-smarter than my family gives him credit for sometimes I think. If anyone wants to join me sometime we tend to go every day and it's a park just off of Belleview and Santa Fe.

We would join you but it seems that Sierra and Jack do not care to swim as they never want to go into the water when we are around it. is this area fenced in?

Not really, but there's a good distance between where we are and the edge of the park. He also does very well with following voice commands and staying right next to us. And if that doesn't work he's obsessed with that ball so as long as I'm holding it he's not going anywhere.

We got back about a week ago. Until the summer we'll be going back and forth every couple of months moving stuff out there. We'll spend the summer in Colorado and then at the end of the summer it's Arizona for good.

Uhm... you only have about two weeks left of the summer. So you're moving for good in 2 weeks? That's all you had to say. tongue

I have no clue really. I'm always in a swimsuit when we go and ready to jump in whenever I would need to. We're looking at getting one specifically made for dogs so that it will be easier for him to work with. It would be nice to be able to get in the water with him at some point cause I need to swim as well, and him having a life vest would mean he would be able to stay out there with me longer.

Well he was only really happy cause I was holding his ball to get him to look at the camera. He's figured out what it means when we go to that park though cause as soon as we get there he jumps in the water and is ready to go.

He seems to really like it. And we've definitely noticed a difference in his energy level and he hasn't been limping as much. That's all we really wanted.

From his most recent swim at the dog park in Arizona:

Loki the Submarine Lokiswim15

He's been swimming for quite a while now and my family has definitely noticed a difference all around. He has much more energy than he used to, almost never has problems with his leg, and although he hasn't lost much weight according to the scale at the vet's office, we can see that he has lost almost all of the fat that he had built up from lazyness due to his injuries, and is really starting to build some muscle where he needs it. We'll continue to take him swimming as long as he enjoys it, and as far as I can tell that will be for quite some time.
