PostSubject: The Story of Rosetta~ 4/19/2013   The Story of Rosetta~ 4/19/2013 EmptySun Oct 19, 2014 4:29 am

This is story of Rosetta, my first Siberian Husky ever. It'll make you laugh, maybe even cry.

Rosetta came into my life in August of 2011. My aunt had found her on side of the road. She went around asking everyone if they had ever seen this dog. No one did. So, she brought her to me. I had walked outside and up to my aunt's car, and seen the most beautiful dog in her back seat. I asked whose dog it was, and she told me that she was mine. I didn't believe her. She told me what happened, and called my mom and pretty much begged her to allow me to keep her. My mom let me keep her, but she said if anyone came looking for her, and she was really their dog, I'd have to give her up. No one ever came looking for her. We didn't expect them to either, because when my aunt found her, she was skinny, her fur was matted, and she had a coat hanger(or some wiring) as her collar.

Rosetta became my best friend over the next year and seven months. She was crazy. She loved digging, so I would stick my feet in the way, and she would start yelling at me. I ruined lots of shoes doing this, but she loved it. She hated the dirt, and we had a lot of dirt in our yard, so she'd sit in the chairs in our front yard just to stay out of the dirt. She loved going for car rides and sticking her head out the window. We went biking everyday. I don't even think she knew how to before that. She learned pretty it fast. She hated being brushed, especially when I brushed her tail. I'd be covered in fur, and she'd be squirming to get out of my grip. We looked like a crazy pair. She didn't like her picture being taken. Every time I tried, she would look away, she was never fully looking right at the camera. I only ever got a few shots with her looking at the camera. She was always being crazy, my crazy girl.

I had few scares with her, with one being that she got off of her leash and took off down the road. I ran down the road chasing her, luckily she got distracted by some dogs in a fence down the street, so I could grab her. Another was that she got in a big bag of M&M's while I was gone one day, and she got sick and kept throwing up. She was fine after that though, but I kept chocolate away from her after that.

The day of April 19, 2013, she was doing fine. Running around, yelling at me to stop interfering with her digging as usual. Then, around 8 PM, I took her outside to let her use the rest room. I noticed something was different with her. I took her inside and called my brother to come here. (We were the only two home, since my mom and step-dad was in Tennessee getting married and staying for the weekend.) Her eyes were bug-eyed pretty much, and when I tried to keep her in place, she wouldn't let me. She kept pacing around, like she didn't know what she was doing. We called our grandpa and he met us at a vet that works at night, but they weren't open, and by then she was still and limp, but breathing and she kept whining, so we called a family friend that works at a vet. She started having seizures, and right before we got to the vet, she died with her head in my lap. I talked to her throughout it all, trying to keep her and myself calm, even though it barely worked for me. I was crying the whole time, knowing that she wasn't going to make it. The vet told us that she died of a heart attack.  After that, we just went to my grandparent's house, and I cried that whole night, and a lot of nights after that. I couldn't go home knowing that she wasn't going to be in my room waiting on me, or that we weren't gonna play our digging game anymore. I completely broke down when I walked into my room.  I miss her. I miss not seeing her sitting in the chairs. I miss not seeing her sleep at the end of the bed. She was my best friend, my baby girl.

I teared up just writing this.

I am so sorry Leighanna. She was a beautiful girl (she looks amazingly similar to my Kohdi's mother...AND Kohdi has that exact same squiggly white "blaze" on the back of his neck)

After what seems like a tough start in her life, her time with you made up for it all. She was happy and loved.

RIP Rosetta

Thank you Jimmy. I'm just glad my aunt was the one who found her, and not anyone else, or I probably never would have had the memories nor the experiences I had with her.

Those memories will never die...and those experiences, many of them learning experiences I'm sure, haha, will help you with Coco, so in a way, Rosetta will live on through Coco. Smile

I learned a lot from her, lol. I didn't know a thing about Siberian Huskies until I started looking them up. You should've seen me when she went through her first blow out with me. I thought she was losing all of her fur! Laughing I learned how to groom, and I groomed her for the rest of her life. Never took her to a groomers, because I was afraid they would shave her.

This was from her first blow out, lol. Just found it while I was writing this post. Not the best picture.
