Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Bandit sleeps a lot, especially if I'm not directly playing with her. She'll chew for a while and entertain herself by chasing a ball or just sniffing. Today i was off and only left the house once but I'd say in a 24 period she's slept a good 18hrs if not more. I'm guessing it's normal considering she prob sleeps the entire time I'm at work. 5 1/2 months old

Sleeping a lot is very common for a puppy. Dogs are not nearly as active in a 24 hour cycle as we are.

It will change as she ages in terms of the amount per day, but it is normal. They go hard for a short while at this age and then just crash hard, especially if she is being engaged and trained when she's awake.

Count your blessings right now. Things will change very soon as she enters adolescence and your life becomes hectic and crazy again Smile

Yes, that's typical puppy behavior. The couch potato variety will fade into memory soon. Just wait.

I was wondering the same thing. My boy is currently 11 weeks and sleeps a lot! But once he hears me getting his food ready he wakes up in half a second! I'm like yep he's just being a lazy boy lol
That's a key thing for me to know if he's being lazy or lethargic.
If he shows no interest in me preparing his food…then theres something wrong with the boy.
Overall he's a quiet boy so far. I only hear him whining when I'm getting his food ready.
Overnight he sleeps about 7 hours, like me. Throughout the day he will be comfortably laying down chewing on a toy and sleep, sleep, sleep.
I haven't walked him outside for weeks since the Parvo scare.
I desperately can't wait for him to get all his rounds of shots!
