| Hi everyone, new member here. I have a 1.5yr old mix with very strong husky heritage and some lab/boxer/corgi/gsd as well.
Saturday morning we let her out to pee and play and after about a minute or two of running around the yard she started to wobble as if disoriented and then collapsed on her side. She was nonresponsive to any stimulus and her breathing was very slowed. She was dead weight in my arms when i put her in the car but came to after that(maybe 1-2minutes). The vet did an ekg, blood pressure, blood test, and general exam. The heart related tests came back normal. They said her heartbeat was slightly slow but that could be due to being in excellent physical condition. They think it was a seizure. They seem to have done most of the proper tests but I am still very concerned for her. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Should I look into a second opinion? Thanks for reading. |

| Take a look through this thread--> Here Mer dealt a ton with seizures with her dog shadow. In her signature is a link to her blog as well and she documented a ton of stuff. There are a few others on the forum that have dealt with this to varying degrees as well and will hopefully see this also and give you their experiences. You might also poke through this thread--> HereIn my opinion a second opinion never hurts. Was there any convulsing or did she just collapse and lay there? Any possibility it was brought on by heat exhaustion? _________________ |

| Thank you for the links, Ill check them out now. There was no twitching or convulsing she just laid there. I suppose the heat is possible but she was really only out of the house for a minute or 2 before it happened, and it was fairly early in the am. Maybe ~75* |

| My dog, Yukon has had seizures since November 2013 when he was a year and a half old. He always had the "grand mal" seizures, which were pretty bad and obvious that it was a seizure. I don' t think it would hurt to get a second opinion. If everything came back normal, and it doesn't happen again they will likely just say to keep an eye on her. Yukon had like 3-4 seizures in a 3 day span so they put him on medication right away.
If you have any questions I would be happy to help. And yeah, Mer has helped me out tremendously with Yukon's epilepsy. |
