| Hi guys, i recently put my dog on a raw diet 2-3 weeks ago. He loves it. But I have noticed in the past 4-5 days his stool kept getting softer and softer. I came from work today and found a pile of green plop on my carpet in my room. It was really wet and green. The only thing he is getting is chicken quarters, beef liver, and few baby carrots. |

| Are you following proper amounts(percentages) of the liver? I know that liver is uber rich, and in starting a raw diet, especially with puppies it may be just too much for their tummies. I would maybe stop for a few more weeks on the liver. Is he eating the bones? If he is not receiving enough bones, he may not be evening out the meat and organ ratio as well. |

| I don't feed raw so take this all with a grain of salt ... a very big grain of salt.
I think we all realize that liver turns green when it's 'past it's prime' but I don't think that's the cause of your problem. My curiosity got the better of me so I went looking and aha, extra or too much iron in a dogs diet can cause green stool - and what's in liver? Bingo!!
Sounds to me like he's getting too much of the liver but again, I qualify that I don't feed raw.
A major caveat here - you say that you found his feces on your carpet when you came home which suggest that he isn't crated. Rat or mouse poison will quickly alter the iron content in a dogs body - are you absolutely certain that he can't get to any?
