Hello,

I have an 11 weeks old husky pup. I got her at 5 weeks (we didn’t know she was so young until we took her to the vet the night we got her). Both ears were floppy at 5 weeks and then by 7 weeks they were both standing up, but shortly after that one ear went down again and hasn’t come up since. I’m not sure if something happened, but I’m starting to get nervous it won’t stand back up. Should I do anything to help it stand?

It happens my 3 who have ears that stand up went up and down several times. Nothing to worry about unless it happened because of an injury.

Some folks have played with their pups ears by lifting them and stroking them into an upright position to encourage them to get used to standing, but mostly they should stand up and stay that way on their own eventually.

Folklore had it that teething can make the ears go back down for a while and is temporary.

I do not know the veracity of that claim.

Did your pups ears finally stand up? I just purchased a male when he was 10 weeks old, had one ear up-one down. He is now 4 months old and both ears are down. He is purebred and I have had him Embark tested twice to be sure he isn't a mix. I've never had an erect ear issue with a husky pup before.

As both @amymeme and @lostmaniac mentioned, it's not unusual for a Husky puppies to come up and go down a few / several times during the first 6 months (to a year?) I wouldn't be too concerned unless they just stay down ...

My second husky had this as a puppy. Our vet gave us some kind of a mineral supplement to help the ears pop up. It worked.

You don't happen to remember the supplement name do you?
