Mark, Bodhi and I hiked up Hardy Ridge in the Columbia Gorge yesterday. It threatened to rain, but never did. The temps were cool and there was no wind. Perfect hiking conditions. We covered eight miles and climbed 2200 ft. The trail starts on an old logging road and is pretty wet. Then it switchbacks up a ridge where the soil is dry and lots of wildflowers are out. Bodhi was happy to lead the way. The only times he gave me pause was when he pulled going downhill on steep sections with loose rocks.

Sweet pics!
We planned to go on a hike, and I for once on a weekend, I wanted to sleep in (sleeping in for me was until 7:15am!). Since it was going to a high of 91 degrees, I just planned a dog park day later in the afternoon. It'll be hot tomorrow too Sad

I like Bodhi's harness - kind of like an X-back harness, minus the x's.....where did you get it? I'm thinking I want to get one for Storm.

I got it from Nordkyn outfitters. Great harness and he can't get out!

There's a thread here about it.

Those trees and that river (is that an artsy cairn on that stump?)!! I really want to get out there and see the things I saw when I was stupid and little. Nice shots.

Is the weather kind of predictable on a daily basis? I always figured the ocean might mess with the stability. Here you can almost set a watch to the daily PM thunderstorms in the summer.

Yeah, it was a kind of ridiculous looking artsy cairn.
Laughable actually because we didn't see anybody else on the hike.

Usually in summer, the weather is pretty predictable.
We just haven't had summer yet.
We are still under the influence of La Nina, which means cooler than normal.
It hasn't been 90 yet, and we've only had a couple of 80 degree days.
A recent snow report said that snow on Mt. Hood was 500% of normal for this time of year.
The snow starts at about 5000 ft.
All this means it's better for hiking with dogs! I'm hoping to get out Sunday.
