I know I really should wait before getting a second dog at least 2-4years if ever. We never really planned on getting a dog. We were just going to be cat people. So much for that! lol. So why can't I stop checking petfinder for huskies?!?! There's one that's in this state and she's soooo pretty! I want her so bad! But I know I need to spend most of my time and energy training Siku.

But how can I say no to this pretty face?!?!

Haha-- you've now officially been initiated into the husky owner community. LOL. They're like pringles, you can't have just one!

You have cats though right? Rescues are hit or miss with cats, so just keep telling yourself that you can't get one until you find the right match! Very Happy

I will say that we were ready for another when Koda was about 15 months old, but we didn't end up with Hailey until Koda was past 2 years old. When the right dog comes along, you will know Smile

But she's gorgeous!

I have no clue how she is around cats. They didn't mention it and I hate asking questions about dogs that I'm probably not going to adopt. But it did say she was good on a leash, very loveable, likes other dogs, is housetrained, and crate trained. I wish she was closer though. It would be about a 6 hour drive round trip just to see her. Plus my boyfriend doesn't want another dog right now. Sad

Yeah- you know that's gotta be a two person decision for sure. I was the "No" for a while until I had a dream that I needed to get a second. Then I started looking. Razz

Just keep preparing yourself. That bug doesn't go away!

Well the thing is, he was fine with me trying to put an application in for a husky mix puppy (ended up not being able to cause they don't adopt out of state). I don't think he wants to risk getting an adult dog cause of the cats. Which I agree. I just wish the itch would go away!!!!

Adult dogs can be fine with cats... look at Val's Dakota. You just have to find the right one!

You'll figure it out though... you'll know when the time is right Smile

I had that itch very badly a week ago. I know how you feel! I've had the itch for well over a year now.

Laughing Ditto on that!

Better yet, I would get through Siku's teenage years before taking on another. Those that wild and crazy rebellious teenage husky streak should settle that itch for you. Wink

I'm with Tori on this one, when the right one comes along at the right time you'll know. If the bf is saying no then I'm not sure there's any wiggle room on this one.

We all have the itch I promise you. I am at my limit on dogs right now but I am always looking at rescues, adoptables on petfinder, and checking out breeder litters. Not because I want another so much as I love to look.

As Tori said, don't cross adopting off your list over the cats. Plenty of shelter and rescue dogs do really well with cats. My sibe is a perfect example, he's from a shelter and does amazing with small dogs, cats and even our guinea pigs.

I also talked to someone in the snowdog group who got a rescue and he's fine with their cats too. Don't worry. I no longer have the itch (for now). I think we will just stay a one dog family for a few years at least. I just got to thinking how much more difficult it would be to fit them in my car, go places like the dog park and dog classes, and the fact that our house isn't all the big. Hopefully that pretty girl will find a good home soon.
My mom is no help too. She just got a 5 month old BC for rescue and wanted to see if I would be interested. I definitely don't want a dog that intense! Those things are crazy!

Okay! Flash from the past. The dog I posted back in 2010's name was Nala. Now I see this dog on perharbor. Do you think it's the same dog???!!!

She looks like the first ever horse I tried to clip with sheep shears. Poor thing. (I did perfect it eventuall) its hard to tell with her coat the way it is. Maybe if there was a front pic to see if you might could see her markings ?

Well at least she has an application on her (found that out on the shelter's website). Hopefully she'll go to a good home.

Shouldn't the rescue be pulling the dog if it's theirs?? Looks very similar.

Well they said they microchip their dogs, so maybe it isn't her. But sheesh, same name and they look so much alike!

Now I'm really trying to remember if the original Nala was at south fl rescue or that guy who calls himself a rescue, but he's a BYB who finds dogs home on the side. I can't remeber which site I saw her picture on!
