Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Bode's first couple days! Empty

So I've been really bad about keeping a camera handy, but Bode's been doing pretty well.

Saturday we took Bode over to my Aunt's house. My mom met us there with their dog Riley (a Brittany). My aunt has a German Shepherd mix named Jessie. Both of them are up to date on shots, so we figured we'd have a little playdate. Riley likes to play with dogs he knows, he's not a big fan of puppies. Jessie was kind of rambunctious when we first got there, so it intimidated Bode a little bit, but that didn't last long! Pretty soon they were running around like mad dogs and playing in the kiddie pool. Riley wasn't too into it, but he was ok. Needless to say, Bode was quite tuckered out that night. I wish we could do that everyday!

Sunday we wanted to see The Dark Knight Rises, but I was a little worried about leaving Bode for that long already (it's a three hour long movie!), but we went and he was fine.

Today was his first vet appointment. About an hour or so before his appointment, he was having a pretty bad nosebleed. He had just come inside, so I think he may have sniffed up something. After that, he had his first accident in the house. It was mostly my fault. I was wary to let him back outside after the nosebleed. We went to the vet and he's a healthy puppy. She said not to worry about the nose thing, just to keep an eye out for respiratory symptoms. It's so hot here today that he's pretty much just been laying down inside the rest of the day.

The only issue we've have is he doesn't really want to play, and we can't take him on walks yet, so expending energy is tough. Plus he'll whine for no reason around the house (it's definitely not a bathroom whine), and I'm not sure what he wants.

Keep in mind that he was very recently separated from the unit that he spent 2 months with right after birth. The first week to month can be somewhat traumatic to all puppies as they become familiar with their new environment, their new unit, and the memories of their previous lives fade. It is the most important time for social interaction, but with husky puppies being so friggin' adorable, that sort of comes built in! Wink
