2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.

Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! Having trouble teaching Kay to sit Empty
PostSubject: Having trouble teaching Kay to sit   Having trouble teaching Kay to sit EmptyTue Oct 30, 2012 6:55 pm

So I posted before about adopting Kayla (Kay). We found out she's had no previous training so we've been working on training her. I taught her sit but she seems to think it means sit on our feet and act adorable. Razz I'm not sure how to teach her to sit anywhere else, so any advice would be greatly appreciated! Very Happy

When I taught Kale to sit I held a treat in the air, and while saying sit, moved the treat over his head so he would have to sit down to keep looking at it. Then immediately treat and praise. I actually uses chicken lunch meat to teach him so he would really be focused. I hope that helps Very Happy I'm sure you will get an influx of different ways to try out and see which one works for your girl Wink

Thanks! I tried that before and she just kept jumping for it or would back up. But now that she knows sit she'll sit on my feet when I say sit. So I tried again and just kept dancing around so she couldn't sit on my feet. She finally understood that she couldn't sit on my feet but she'll still try and find things to lean against. Poor Kay just wants to be loved Razz Good luck Abbers, but knowing you you'll have her trained in no time. Ooh! Also maybe have Maya do a few of her tricks and then try them on Kay, kind of a watch-and-learn thing.

I tried that before and she just keeps running around and hitting into maya which pisses maya off. So I've been keeping their training seperate so they don't fight. They have enough fights no need for any more Razz
