I don't know if this is related to the new edits, but I'm experiencing an issue that I haven't had in the past. When accessing the site from my Apple mobile devices (both iPad and iPhone), the full version site, the screen is continuously flashing (almost like twitching). It's as if it's trying to keep loading something, but it has already finished loading.

I started to notice something similarity to ^, as well as a huge increase in lag time when typing a reply into the very narrow reply box that I now have on my phone.

I am having trouble with my "quote" box. When I try to quote something, it keeps my text in the same "quote" box so it is like my text is the posters text I was trying to quote.

Does that make sense?? How do I fix this? I tried clicking under it and pressing enter a bunch of times but it stayed that redish, pinkish box.

I just fixed the "Quote" issue just now....

You should now be able to click UNDER the quote box to continue Wink

~Chris~

ETA if you're still having this bug, clear your cache, history and cookies, and it should fix it.

If not let me know and I'll try and see what is going on.

A lot of mobile devices are experiencing issues right now with the new editor.

We only have androids at home so I can't test Ipads or Ipods, but I've seen a few people having the same issue.

Try clearing your cache, history, and cookies. and trying the site once again to see if that helps. If you don't know how I can send you a link.

If it doesn't help and you still have the issue, I'm trying to find a solution ...

This most likely has to do with the fact the new editor is a bit heavier in terms of demand. It isn't as simplistic as the old one and run's on Java.

If you have an older phone that would more then likely be why.

Switching the editor to BB mode (If available on your phone) may help reducing some of your lag Jeff... as I have an old PoS laptop I use at work and it reduce a bit of mine.

Still looking for a solid solution for mobile devices though.

I tried to fix the treat for Chris, it only gave him half a treat!

You mean the Yellow box that appears???

Yeah once we work out the kinks I'll try and make it look like a quote box instead of the horrid yellow you now see.

No its not horrid yellow...it doesn't quote anything at all. I enter the text and then it just appears as normal text in my box, no differientiation between it and what I'm typing...

And nevermind. Technologically challenged and figured it out lol. Totally was doing it wrong!!!

Sorry I meant Source Mode... BB tags.

Tika wrote:
WYSIWYG mode vs. Source Mode.

The very last option on the new editor resembles a piece of paper. This will allow you to toggle between the two modes available, but is set on WYSIWYG by default.

New Message Editor - Page 2 Button10

Basically what it comes down to is this.

WYSIWYG Mode:

Think of this as the forum showing you in real time what your post will look like when you post it. As you edit your text, add pictures, colors, or formatting it will appear in your text body as you do it. Even Emoticons will appear as you type them out right away. Easy Peasy.

Source Mode.

Source Mode allows you to see the BB code, or is more akin to what the forum used to look like prior to today. So if you are more comfortable with it you can enable this option and will be able to see all those codes instead of the actually changes.

All the buttons will still work for both modes, you just won't see the tags in one.

Try switching it to Source and you should see an increase in speed.... I do on my crappy laptop.

It may,

You also might want to check to see if you have the most up to date version of Java.

Oh okay, thanks.  But since the issue is on my phone and there are no buttons available on the phone, then I guess I can't change it afterall.  Oh well, the only way this really affects me is that now I can't post pics from my phone.  The very narrow reply box is annoying and difficult to navigate but it still technically works .

All the buttons are there on my laptop and there are no lag issues or any other issues with the new editor at all.

Thanks.

Ahhh right sorry Jeff.

The phone issue SHOULD only be a temporary issue. I can't give a time frame, but I'm working on it.....

It's unacceptable to me not being able to use the full site from a mobile device when you could last week just fine.

I'll let you know as soon as there is an update on that.

As for everyone else Keep it coming. I'm working on fixing any small issues you have.

Switching to the other editing mode fixed the lag issue I was having on my pc. I'm not allowed to update software here on my work computer, so I can't do the java update. I'm also having the issue on my iphone/ipad where things keep jumping around. I gave up trying to use the full site on my mobile devices and just used the mobile site.

Yeah I'm working on screwing with their Javascript to get the mobile version as stable as possible.

I don't see it being a permanent thing. If it is we'll find a way to fix it trust me Wink.

I've put the default editing mode to Source. In an effort to reduce lag some people are having by default. Just an FYI.
