Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Swollen Muzzle - Bite? Delilahface_zpsd8ce817d

This is what Delilah's face looked like when I was leaving for work - I instead went and bought Benadryl, dosed her with two tablets (50mg) and the swelling went down on one side, but not as much on the other. I think she may have gotten bit on the side that the swelling hasn't budged much.

At first, I was terrified. Delilah has a history of allergies and has ended up in the E-vet for anaphylaxis before - I almost lost her.

She seems okay otherwise - appetite is still there, temperament is the same, gums are fine, and she still wants to go outside.

Anyone have any experience?

I recently had something like this happen.. I think Okami got one of the bees that she tries to get every time we go in and out of the house (One of my flower gardens is by the pathway to the front door) It took a few hours for it to go down.. I just gave allergy meds and iced it... went away.

Hope your Delilah gets well soon!

Juneau got stung by a bee and had a small welt on her chin once. It went down in about 8 hours. I did give her Benadryl and it seemed to help.

Since you pointed out that her gums, temperament and appetite are fine, I think she'll be okay. Just keep a watchful eye on her.

Yep, this happened to Dakota last year when he got stung by a bee. The swelling went down several hours later after Benadryl.

Hope Delilah's feeling better now.

This happened to Loki a couple weeks ago, he was fine, we left to do errands and son called to tell me his eye was swollen shut--weird--I called the vet they told me they hasd no appt to see him and to give him benadryl, which we did and in a day he was fine. Had to be an insect bite, because food wise nothing had changed!
