PostSubject: Re: Weigh in...   Weigh in... - Page 5 EmptyWed Jun 18, 2014 10:20 pm

So Yukon has only gained .5 lbs in the last two months. (He turned 9 months old yesterday.) He's still about 10 lbs shorty of the breed standard at 35.8 lbs, so I was wondering if this might be a point of concern? Could it possibly be worms? Or maybe he's just burning more calories in the summer? He'll eat food normally; and outside of that one time he had diarrhea for a day his digestive system has been completely normal as well. The last time I got him deformed was in November as well just as an fyi... :/

Nah, I don't think it's a point of worry. At this point in his life worms aren't as big of a worry, especially if he takes a monthly pill. Between 9 and 24 months there's still a lot of growth that can take place! Some pups just grow slower than others -- Layla's also one of them. Do you know if any of Yukon's relatives were slow growers? Also, neither Kermit nor Arrow are very large for Sibes, so it could be he's just following in their footsteps.

I'm sure he'll keep gaining at least another five pounds over the next several months. If he weren't to standard by 18 months I'd start to worry, but you have plenty of time. Smile

So weighed Simon today and he is 30 lbs. He has lost some weight. Should I worry? No attitude changes good poops the big difference is Maya is now with us and they play a ton. Do I need to up his food for that? He will be 8 months old in July.

If he's more active you should up his food amount. But, if it starts giving him the runs, then back off on it. Usually Sibes are less active in the hotter weather, and it's coat-blowing season, so it's understandable they would lose some weight. If everything else is normal, I wouldn't worry about it.

Weighed him today he is now 32.6lbs and I feel a bit better. I have upped his food a little and I am now measuring out all daily food and sticking it in mason jars to make sure I know that everyone is getting all there food every day.

12 weeks = 12.6 pounds
16 weeks = 17.8 pounds
20 weeks = 19.4 pounds
24 weeks = 23.8 pounds
30 weeks = 27.2 pounds
33 weeks = 29 pounds
46 weeks = 32 pounds

Took her to the vet today to get a lepto shot and they weighed her. Glad to see she really is growing as much as I thought. I'm thinking she'll fill in in the next year or so; she's still a skinny little thing. Everyone always asks me if I think she'll grow more since she's so small, haha.

Hanzel is finally growing quickly! Since he was so sick the first month we had him, we think he was malnourished and that he was so small because of this.  Now he's super healthy and happy and we love him to bits!  The vet couldn't believe he was the same dog at his last puppy visit.

He's short and stalky right now but his paws are big but you can't see cuz he's so fluffy.  I have no idea what he'll look like in his adult size.

On July 15th (19.5 weeks) he weighed 24lbs - up two or three from before.  He's still the right size so I think he's finally going to have the growth spurt I thought he would.

He's really grown beautifully, and 24 pounds at 19 weeks is right on target for a male. Great job raising him up to health!

Wow, Layla really filled out in the last three weeks. We haven't fed her any more than usual but she gained almost four pounds! You can really tell she has filled out. She definitely has more girth and isn't as lanky and skinny as she was. Still looks athletic, though. Could also be because our walks are averaging around 3 to 3.5 miles per day, when normally during the sledding season we average more like 4 or 5 miles a day. We'll also start training her in harness this fall, which will probably balance things out more weight-wise as well. I'm glad she's finally within the breed standard, haha.

Nice! Yukon only weighed 36 lbs. last time I took him in, which was right after he turned 10 months old. He's so scraggly and thin.  Evil or Very Mad

I realized I haven't updated Layla's weight in a while ...

12 weeks = 12.6 pounds
16 weeks = 17.8 pounds
20 weeks = 19.4 pounds
24 weeks = 23.8 pounds
30 weeks = 27.2 pounds
33 weeks = 29 pounds
46 weeks = 32 pounds
49 weeks = 35.8 pounds
1 year, 5 weeks = 34 pounds

Ever since Layla's 1st birthday she has been on a hunger strike, at first because I gave her birthday cake and she held out for it, and later, I recently discovered, because she has a cracked molar. Because of this, she wasn't eating as much because of the pain and so she lost a couple pounds. Now that we've been soaking her food her eating has gone back to normal, so I'm hoping she's regained some of the weight. We'll find out next week at her annual checkup.

Just got back from the vet today and Layla's the picture of health. In the past week and change she even gained back the two pounds she lost (and then some) during her hunger strike. She also has no tooth damage, so it seems as if she just likes her food soggy now. Whatever makes her happy, haha!

Going off memory so maybe not 100% on the ages but pretty close, Doom's growth so far:

3 1/2: 27 lbs
4 1/2 months: 35 lbs.
5 1/2, closer to 6 months:: 40 lbs
6 1/2: 45 lbs.

Last weigh-in was yesterday. Up until a couple of days ago he was ravishingly hungry- would gobble up his meals instantly, this took place for a couple of weeks. Now he's backed off and be been more graze-like. I am no expert but I just kind of attribute it to growth spurts. As you can see from the photo he's still quite skinny at 45 lbs. The lanky phase in full effect.

Just weighed Luna today..

She is 22 weeks and about 26lbs.  After going through this thread, I feel a little better, as some other puppies around her age are around the same size.  I do see some massive dogs in here, and I'm glad Luna isn't on the bigger side!

It's hard to say as she really is so young. 35lbs seems to be the starting point for a full grown female Husky. Give it time and she might blossom into a big girl. If not, im sure you will still love her the same Smile
