4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

As you can tell from the title, I'm a first time dog owner and have decided to go with a Siberian Husky, I know its going to be a big responsibility and it will definitely be a challenge. But I have done a lot of research on huskies and I know it will take a lot of time and patience, but I'm up to it! But I wanted to know what you guys think are some useful tips that you've used on your huskies when it comes to training. Any recommendations? Any help will be appreciated! Thanks!

If it's not obvious, things are slow here over the weekend. I'm sure you'll get plenty of responses in the morning.
The major thing I've found with Huskies - well, with any dog - is that you have to have an abundance of patience. The younger they are, the more you'll need.

Don't spoil them. If you give them an inch they will take a mile. Too many make them their babies and they can be real brats.

Ditto what Jenn said. Before you take possession of the dog, decide how you want the dog to be. Then, enforce those rules. Remember, too, that even when you are not training, you are still training - these dogs will do whatever they can get away with.
But, they are worth it.
