| you can look back at my last 2 yrs here https://www.itsahuskything.com/t4072-jenn-s-gardening-thread-2012https://www.itsahuskything.com/t1712-jenn-s-gardening-thread-what-will-this-summer-bring-2011this year our focus will be on the FRONT yard, i want the damn area DONE!!! with some help we got the stupid junipers pulled out in the fall and are just left with a bunch of rock to remove before i can do the gardens and walkways. im about to see how cheap i can hire labor to just get it done, i really dont want to do it and we really have no where to put the damn rock any more. Colorado is in stage 2 drought all ready so im looking to get most of the flagstone done and beds built to maybe plant next yr or closer to fall, going with xeriscape plants i think, i do have drip lines all ready installed but with they way our summers go i think im safest with plants that can take the dry heat. i did got some gardening done this past weekend, new mulch laid down and plant food. then we got a few inches of snow on monday.... basil, mint, and broccoli front bed with the tulips coming up daffodils, i covered them from the snow and hope they live, they bloomed the day before the snow! irises growing my xeriscape plants from last summer coming back i also want to do new edging around the front bed and along the tall grasses on the side, the cheap stuff we put down has fallen apart from our weather i think... need to get something that keeps the grass from entering into the beds. _________________ |

| My garden is going crazy! I really upped chicken manure in the spring before I planted. My big problem is rabbits. I've lost a lot of carrots and they have discovered the peas. I'm letting Bodhi mark all around the garden. I walk him around all around it and let him sniff. Almost every time we bust bunnies. I'm feeling like Mr. McGregor in Peter the Rabbit!

| That's nice. My sister gave it a try about 25 years ago up in Evergreen. Fall came, the Elk migrated and that was the end of all things garden. When they first arrived her comment was "no one does any kind of landscaping out hear". Guess she found out why! |

We have a small fence that goes around our garden, not that it can keep Onyx out. But this year we planted the tomatos in the middle of the fenced in area so Onyx won't be able to pick his own cherry tomatos. My wife gave him one, then he learned which plant she pulled them off, and it was along the fence so he could pick em...it was too funny. |
