Do you let your dog sleep in the bed with you? Empty

It seems to be a common enough debate and apparently around 45% of dog owners let their dogs sleep in bed with them according to an AKC survey.

Do you let your dog(s) sleep in your bed?

We have let Duck sleep in the bed with us a few times. It seems to go well. He snuggles up, doesn't bed hog, and doesn't move about to much. Additionally, he seems to be more likely to sleep when we do when he is on the bed with us. In the crate, he wakes us up in the morning (before I would like) with some high pitched noises indicating he is bored and wants to get on with the day I think.

My little terrier sleeps in the bed. Spider will get in bed for about 10 mins to say goodnight and whatnot then she usually sleeps on the floor next to the bed. Shadow has a pillow on the floor and squirt is not allowed in our bedroom (the other 3 are not allowed in her bedroom).

Mine sleep wherever they want except squirt who has her own queen size bed and a dog bed.

We are the "mean owners" who have no dog on furniture, no dog on bed! We just think it's dirty. I mean, this is a guy who munches on catpoop, walks around bare-pawed in the mud, rolls in grass, etc. Would you let a human who did that, share your bed?  Very Happy

Our dog has two XL memory foam dogbeds though, that he loves.

He's also not very cuddly...he is a rather aloof dog that likes his own space. So he's never shown any wish to get into bed with us!

PS And yea, when we used to crate our dog at night, he wanted OUT of the crate at 6am sharp. It's been easier since we trusted him to sleep in his dogbed!

I can see your point. Fortunately, Duck does not have access to cat poop, the mud he gets into is the same mud I garden in (and I clean his paws when he comes in), the grass he lies in is the same grass in my yard I sit on, and Duck likes showers - he enters when I am showering of his own accord and will calmly catch falling water while I wash him.

Wow, I wish I could teach my dog to shower! Mine has to be bribed with peanut butter on a spoon to stand still while we spray him, it's not his favorite thing - so he only gets washed about once per year. Smile

Here he is enjoying his XL memory foam dogbed (he likes to have clean sheets on his bed and if I don't shake the sheet out and brush it off, he'll lie on the floor NEXT to his bed to protest.)

I sleep best when all of my animals sleep with me. My 2 huskies, american eskimo, shih tzu and sometimes the cat join us.

Kenzi sleeps with us. Or more with me. She stays on my side of the bed and keeps my feet warm. For the most part I don't mind though I can sometimes end up in some positions that are less than comfortable and since she likes to sleep on my feet they can go numb a bit. The other two have beds on the floor they sleep on. They can't make the jump into the bed.

Let's see. Z'ev is crated at night so he has time without muzzle. But - first thing in the morning, after his breakfast and pee/poop, he is hell bent on joining hubby in bed (I get up 2-3 hours earlier.)

Ami? Once in a blue moon he will sleep all night on the foot of our bed. But, thankfully, not too often 'cause that boy is BIG!!! A bit more often, after Wayne gets in bed but before I do, Ami will jump up on the foot of the bed to get a concentrated dose of lovin'. Ears, throat rubbed/scratched. Eats it up. We laugh 'cause he looks decidedly drunk while its going on.

Archer? Oy vey, Archer?!!? When he stays overnight, he sleeps with us. Right between us. Strung out like a string bean. Paws around my neck or hubby's. Just like a baby. And, just like a baby, he's up and fussing at us at 5 AM affraid
