Hello everyone! My name is Tori and this is my husky, Koda. My boyfriend and I adopted him through a rescue referral when he was 7 months old from a family that saved him from a shelter, but were unable to keep him. Ever since he came into our lives, nothing has been the same! He was very mellow when we first got him, perhaps the most mellow husky I had ever seen, but once he got comfortable around us, BOY did he come out of his shell! I work from home a lot and he "yells" at me constantly to play (he loves to talk)! We love taking him hiking, camping, running around in local parks....anywhere and everywhere! He's the most playful and fun dog I've ever had and I'm so excited to have him as a life-long companion. Hope you enjoy his pictures- I know there are a lot Smile

7 months old before we got him (our first pictures of him)

Here are some pictures from 6/7/2009- our play date with Napoleon (the Berner) and Leia (the Dane):

The pictures aren't the best, as I took them with my cell phone, but we had a blast! It was one of the first real socializations that we've had with Koda (same for Leia- she's only just 2 years and Dane's are fragile before that) and it went WAY better than we all expected! We'll definitely be doing that more often. Matt and Sandy are two of our best friends up here and it was great for them all to get along so well Smile

Your friend needs to be nominated for the TV show What Not To Wear. Dress, running shoes and a thermal jacket?! Suspect

Glad your little social event went well though!

She was on her way out to buy new clothes actually... she just finished chemo and because the cancer is gone she gained a ton of weight and didn't have any clothes that fit her comfortably anymore.

LOL. Sandy actually dresses very well... when she has options. She plans on losing the weight now that she's done with her chemo and getting her life back to normal. She was just buying clothes in the interim. Man... I hope she never sees this-- she would die. I guess I shouldn't have posted such a horrible picture of her!!

No offense, but chemo can cause you to gain weight? I thought it was the other way around?

Chemo will kill your healthy appetite. What happened in her case is that the chemo gave her a "hangover" like feeling. Thus, she ate junk food throughout the entire procedure. However, the chemo, combined with the cancer eating at everything she ingested caused her to LOSE weight. Once the chemo effectively killed the cancer, everything she ingested became just that- ingested food that packs on pounds. Her pattern of behavior remained the same until the chemo ended (and her "hangover" appetite for junk food ceased). Without the cancer there to eat up the pounds, she gained a lot of weight.

Now that the cancer and the chemo are gone- she is eating normally but maintaining an unhealthy weight. Thus- she bought new clothing for the interim and will begin losing weight in a healthy way. Until then... she needs to wear something and feel comfortable and look nice while doing it. Wink

Interesting! Well, I'm glad your friend is now cancer-free! Unfortunately I lost my mom to pancreatic cancer exactly 13 years ago last Friday. She did not go through any of that. My family and I tried to get her eating her favorite food again but she was not able to hold it down and kept losing weight. But at least she is at peace now. I miss her though!

I'm sorry for your loss Danielle. I can't imagine what that must have been like Sad

Sandy was very very lucky. She was a very rare case having gone from Stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma and two months into chemo it was gone completely. That's the reason her weight fluctuated as it did. It doesn't happen like that for everyone.

So I realized that I didn't put too many pictures of Koda up this summer and I have a few that I just took. I apologize for the clarity on some of them. I just got a new phone (with a nice camera in it) and I'm still figuring out how to use it properly.
