I love how sweet Layla is to her baby. I can't wait to see them grow up together.

Layla did some Barn Hunt practice this past weekend at a sleddog kennel in New Hampshire. She did awesome in the Instinct trial! Corina, the kennel owner, said she would have received a qualifying point had it been a real trial, and that she's ready for the real thing. Can't wait to start entering trials in our area!
Thanks! She still needs more practice on the tunnel if she's going to do Novice trials (going through a tunnel and jumping up on a haybale in addition to finding the rat are required to qualify), but not bad for a first go-around! I'm very proud of her.

Layla had a little playdate yesterday with her best friend/boyfriend, Wolfie, the Husky from down the street. They ran around our yard and splashed in the kiddie pool. Wolfie really had fun in the pool, haha, as you can see.
Haha, Layla doesn't do much in the pool besides step in it anyway. At most she puts her face in it. I'm glad Wolfie got so much enjoyment and use out of it!

Oooh what cute pics Layla is a lil thing isn't she? Seeing her next to Wolfie, she reminds me of my Mishka next to Kohdi. Both are just so beautiful, great pics!

This past weekend was the annual New England Sled Dog Trade Fair and Seminars. We had a blast at the rig races on Sunday! I raced with Layla for the first time. We got 19th out of 24, mostly because I totally wiped out at the beginning, scraping up my knee and giving my left hand some bad bruising, but other than that I was fine. I didn't even notice I was hurt until we were done with the race. I was disappointed by the setback, but it was just for fun, and there's always next year!
Darren served as cameraman and baby-holder while Layla and I raced.
Waiting with friends for the one-dog bikejoring and scootering class to line up
In the chute!
At the starting line (pre-wipeout ... notice how nicely and innocently Layla is sitting )
Coming in to the finish (Darren had gotten video of my wipeout at the start but I had him delete it )
Oh that sounds like such a fun event! Sucks that you wiped out. Was that innocent looking puppy the culprit? Lol.
Haha, it was funny how she just sat down. The guy holding her let her go and, wouldn't you know, she started going nuts again.
I'm not sure what caused the wipeout. It happened pretty fast, and I was amped up on adrenaline, so it's still hard to remember exactly what happened, but I do remember Layla started going off to the side to say hi to Darren and Tabitha and I was trying to get her back on the trail. My foot may have slipped on the pedal, or maybe Layla went in front of the tire and I tried to stop quickly so as to not run into her. I do remember the line was wrapped around the front tire a couple times when I got up, but that could've just been the way the bike fell. It was probably a combination of Layla and me that caused it. Either way, it was still a fun race. Darren felt so bad for me; I think it hurt him more than it did me, haha. It was embarrassing, but it happens to a lot of folks, pros and amateurs alike, so I'm not going to let it get me down.
wow, look like you two had a blast. sorry to hear about the floor running in to you. Can't wait to try that with Leo, hopefully with not to many encounters with the ground .

Awesome, Megan! I was wondering if you would come this year, but I understand you've already done a lot of traveling. It's a really fun weekend. I've made up my mind we're going to camp next year. I've said it every year and next year we're going to actually do it for sure!
Liz, looked like you and Layla had a great time, despite your face plant. Great to see you out and having bonding time with your first girl, and so great that Darren is supportive of you, what a wonderful husband and daddy!

So much fun, Liz...what a happy group. I don't know about you, but I'm still finding new bruises from my wipeout with Archer, Ami and the bike. Weird, isn't it, the worst falls are when you're standing still.

Definitely! I found a couple small bruises on the knee that didn't get scraped up yesterday. I'm sure there will be more. There's a meme out there that says women spend a third of our lives trying to figure out where mysterious bruises come from. I'm sure it's not factually correct, but funny nonetheless!
