Now that we've had Misty for nearly three months, one thing has become quite clear about this dog:  She is the FUNNIEST dog I've ever had.  I've had some great dogs, and they've all made me laugh, but Misty is hilarious.  I don't know exactly what it is.  Maybe it's the way she inserts herself into conversations ("WoooooOOO! WOO! WOO! Woo.").  Maybe it's the bull-in-a-china-shop way she barges from room to room the house.  Maybe it's the way she keeps trying to talk with that stupid ball in her mouth ("Don't talk with your mouth full, Misty!").  Or maybe it's just the fact that she's a Husky.

Whatever the case, I've never heard my daughter laugh so hard while hanging out with a dog before. None of our previous dogs made her laugh this hard.

How cute! She must have a big personality!! It's so funny to see each husky being so different. Kota has her moments but it is very rare. She is a very mellow dog, however, my sister's husky is very derpy. Lots of character with being goofy and mischievous at the same time. When you have 2 opposite husky get together, it makes it fun to watch and makes my Kota a little more lively then usual.

You should try to get her on video and post it for us to see.

I may actually have to try taking videos, because Misty is HARD to photograph. She just does NOT stay still, unless she's asleep -- and even then she sucker-punches the heck out of her crate in her sleep. She does it with her front paws. She accidentally did it to my daughter the other day. Both were lying on the couch, with Misty asleep, and suddenly Misty launched a left hook at my daughter's behind -- WUMP!! Just about knocked the kid off the couch. It didn't hurt -- just startled my daughter, who started laughing really hard. Then Misty woke up and looked around like, "What? What'd I miss?"

Wish someone had been taking video when we were out over the weekend. Misty accompanied us to the pet supply store Saturday. She hung out there with my husband and kid while I ran to the restaurant next door to pick up carryout for dinner. When I came back into the pet store, Misty started wagging her tail and WOOoooOOOooo!ing very loudly when she saw me. Everyone in the store cracked up when she did that. It was so funny and cute. She may have just been excited about the food I was carrying, but it still made me go, "Awwwwwww ...!"

Misty is sooo pretty!! At our house, Suka and Cain are both pretty goofy but Suka has a more expressive face while Cain looks like Mr. Serious most of the time. But when they play together and start talking....funniest thing ever! They definitely keep us entertained!

So, does anyone else's Husky do this?  -->  Misty is still sleeping in her crate in our bedroom at night, but I'm thinking she may not have to be crated at night much longer. She's been letting us know that she'd REALLY like to sleep on the sofa in the den.  I figure we'll give her another week in the crate.  She still occasionally pees in the house when we aren't watching, but it's been a couple of weeks since the last time ...

ANYWAY -- and I wish I had video of this, but it only happens late at night -- Misty has taken to sleeping on her back in her crate with all four paws up in the air.  It doesn't look comfortable to me, but whatever. She must have very interesting dreams because (as I've written before) she sometimes sucker-punches the walls of her crate with her front paws when she sleeps.  Sometimes it's very rhythmic -- THUMP! THUMP! THUMP!  It's also usually rather loud.

Last night, my daughter had the first nightmare she's had in a while, and whenever that happens we allow her to sleep in our bedroom with us (otherwise she can't get back to sleep). SO, post-nightmare, after we're all settled in and all snoozing away (yeah, you can see where this is going) -- suddenly there's this loud THUMP! Followed by more loud thumps: THUMP! THUMP! THUMP!

My daughter sits up in a panic: "WHAZZAT!?!"
"Oh, it's just Misty punching her crate in her sleep," I tell her, "Take a look at her."

One look at Misty and my daughter starts laughing really hard -- which wakes up the dog AND my husband. Yeah, none of us got much sleep after 3:00 AM.

Maybe I'll let Misty sleep in the den tonight after all ...

Aw, Misty is precious! Yes, to the sleeping with paws in the air--it's our favorite Grant photo op. Crating was the best thing for us, right beside the bed. Now Grant sleeps in the bedroom, but not on the bed. When the sun comes up, he comes up on the bed to ask to go outside. Sometimes I hit snooze by telling him "down" and he'll curl up at the foot of the bed for a few.

As for running in her sleep, you get comic relief all through the night, pretty cool.

Awwwww ...! Does she "run" or punch things in her sleep, or is it mostly peaceful?

She doesn't run, but her sleep cycle is pretty active. Her body jerks, and occasionally one, or more, of her feet will shoot out. Looks like she is possessed at times...

Ha! Laughing Possessed -- yeah! Twisted Evil

I've had dogs twitch, run, and otherwise move around in their sleep before, but they always did it while sleeping on their sides -- NOT while flat on their backs.

I did once have a parrot that liked to sleep on his back on the bottom of his cage. Scared me to death when he first did it -- I thought he'd dropped dead. Nope, he was just sleeping. I later learned that it was a sign that the parrot felt VERY comfortable and secure enough to lie on his back.

So, can it be assumed that a Husky lying down with belly exposed and all four paws in the air is a very comfortable, confident, secure-feeling Husky?

I'm right there with you.  Thor has done wonders for my twins.  They play together and get in so much mischief.  The twins absolutely love him.  I'm so happy I not only go them a dog (they were terrified of them before Thor) and the fact that he's such a good fit with them.  I'm always wanted a husky for years and no can't be more thrilled to have one. Already thinking of adding to the pack when Thor gets older.

The first time Thor got to sleep outside of his crate was not planned. He'd been doing good with potting during the daytime and no accidents and I slept in the living room and he was such a good boy that day let him sleep on his bed vs in his room. He did well, no accidents or anything. for the most part, he now sleeps on his bed if i'm not working nights and especially the weekend. I think he feels it's is reward and like a big boy when he gets to be out all day and night roaming. it's like a sleepover when he's not in his room (crate).

Funny thing is Aspen, Thor's sister, sleeps in that weird position on her back with paws up. Thor just started doing this last week, but it's not a regular position of him. He does have his sleeping moments where he's running and his paws are a going. it's so funny.
