My husky is orange...... Empty
PostSubject: My husky is orange......   My husky is orange...... EmptyMon Jul 11, 2011 7:32 pm

Hi everyone, I just bought a husky puppy a few days ago and I had a question about his coat. My dog's name is Hero and he is 8 weeks old. Hero's mom is black/white and his dad is red/white. Hero is Black/white like his mom, but he has bright bright orange all around his legs. I've never seen a husky with this color combination, or even a dog with this shade of orange. It looks like he has been eating a bag of Cheetos! Anyway, the breeder told me that they are just stains from crawling all around his food from when he was younger. I've tried to wipe them off with a soapy paper towel but have been unsuccessful. I was wondering if this is really just a stained coat that will eventually go away or if it is on account of the mixture of his parent's coat profiles.

It's a little difficult to see in the photo, but it's so orange! Don't mind the Cocker Spaniel in the corner, she's his little nap buddy. =P

im glad you said that cause i was thinking i hope thats not one of the parents cause no way in hell is that a husky! Wink

you will find from this day forward for then next year or longer your husky is gonna change coat colors very often! if you tried cleaning it and nothing came off im gonna say its the fur and it will change so don't worry about it. but if you want to try giving him a full on bath in the sink with dog shampoo and get one for dogs with white coats it might come off and it might not.

congrats on your new pup, i know I can't wait to watch the color changes happen as it grows!

Dakota is a black and white husky but has a reddish tint to his back legs. He looks like he is dirty but he isn't, it is just the color of his fur. His father was a red/white husky as well so I assume he gets it from him.

Unique color combinations are so fun AND make everyone who doesn't know huskies well to be inquisitive! Even though reds are so common, I still get tons of comments (I've had two reds...not really on purpose...)

Welcome! What a cute, tiny little guy! Can't wait to see him grow!
