Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

PostSubject: Re: Titus killed a tiny poodle   Titus killed a tiny poodle - Page 7 EmptyMon Oct 29, 2012 9:32 pm

Thank you everyone..

But I have some bad news.. Titus is sick..lost weight, not eating. He is wheezing a lot, probably some asthma attack just like my mum's shih tzu which have to take regular injections for the asthma. It seems like he couldn't get air into his lungs.
I checked some background information on it. He probably got that bronchitis allergy (asthma) because of the environment he was in the pound for 3 weeks. At home he always have clean beds and surroundings. The pound smells like poop each time I visit him.

We will be bringing him for a blood test later for the travel. We will get the vet to check on this as well. The question is the interval between each asthma attack is so close that he probably already had it for a while. Why did the pound not notice it? I've only seen it once in the pound last week but we thought he was choking on his treats as he was running.

My mum's shih tzu had the wheezing only a couple of times a week and the vet called it 'quite severe'. Ricco had to be injected with some medicine four times a year. He is only 2 1/2 years old. And Titus wheezed twice before bedtime last night and a few times this morning. Why is these things happening to him?

I'm sorry to hear that Titus is feeling unwell. Is it kind of like a wheezy dry cough? If so, has he been vax for Bordetella (kennel cough)? It runs rampant in kennels.

I would get him checked tomorrow fo kennel cough Bordetella even if the get the vaccinated for it there are strains that the Bordetella doesn't cover.

I'd get him in to the vet for a check as soon as possible just to be sure. If it is kennel cough then he should get over it just fine. Our boy had kennel cough when we adopted him from the shelter, our vet chose not to treat it and let him get over it naturally. It sounds awful but ours was back to normal after 2 weeks of letting it run its course.
